Coffee Sourcing Principles

Supporting coffee producers to help build a sustainable future.

At Campos we really value and support our partners at origin that prioritise environmental and economic sustainable farming practices. For example, our partner at Hacienda La Esmeralda in the Panama highlands harmonises a blend of environmental stewardship and economic empowerment.

Hacienda La Esmeralda have cultivated a commitment to sustainable farming practices that transcend mere business operations. For years they have prioritized forest preservation to protect local wildlife, and refrain from pruning coffee trees during bird nesting seasons, to ensure a thriving ecosystem.

At the heart of their sustainability is their innovative approach to energy. Embracing hydroelectricity and sustainable wood burning at their coffee mill, they not only reduce their environmental footprint but also set a benchmark for energy efficiency in the region.

Beyond environmental stewardship, Hacienda La Esmeralda prioritizes the well-being of their community. Central is their unwavering support for their coffee pickers, who earn wages three times the local average. In addition, they have a nursery to support the community; harvesters’ children and mothers with infants receive care, and hot meals while their family members work in the fields. Its far more than fair pay, it’s about building a community where everyone thrives.

Together, Campos Coffee and Hacienda La Esmeralda exemplify the power of partnership in creating a sustainable future. This is just one of many farmers that partner with Campos, to ensure that not only we serve exceptional coffee, but help pave the way to a brighter world where environmental stewardship and economic prosperity can thrive in harmony.
