Introducing the August coffee of the month – the Kenya Thirikwa Gakuyuini. And we are pretty excited about this amazing coffee from Kenya! The Kenya Thirikwa Gakuyuini is an espresso roast. The coffee is sweet like maple syrup and with flavours like black currant and lemon.
If you were on a deserted island and could only pick coffee from one origin to drink for the rest of your life, which one would it be? If you answer isn’t Kenyan, it’s probably because you haven’t tried the incredible coffee from Thirikwa Gakuyuini.
Maybe we’re a little biased because this is the 5th year we’ve featured Thirikwa as Coffee of the Month but we can’t help it, we really just love everything about what they do.
Along with a commitment to quality and attention to detail, the success of Thirikwa is founded on a heightened level of care accorded to their members. They are amongst the highest paying societies in Kenya with at least 95% of revenue returned to members. A revolving fund also ensures assistance for medical and school fees for all members.
With multiple visits over the years, we’ve tracked their meteoric rise from humble beginnings all the way to breaking the record for highest price paid at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange. With bold notes of ripened dark fruits, a refined acidity and juicy mouthfeel, the profile from Thirikwa is quintessentially Kenyan.
The Kenya Thirikwa Gakuyuini is must for all coffee lovers. Want to learn how to brew the perfect espresso? Check out our handy guide here
