Returning for a second year, we’re excited to once again showcase Fazenda do Cruzeiro as our feature Coffee of the Month for April. Driven by passion and innovation, producer Ivan Junqueira Ribeiro creates coffees that are complex, impactful and entirely distinct in the landscape of Brazilian coffee.
“We lived very special moments with our family here at the farm. The farm is a part of who we are. It’s a very good feeling to continue the history of the family and also provide this experience I had in my childhood to my daughters. I hope that in the future the girls could have the same passion that I have for coffee and continue the family history” – Ivan Junqueira Ribeiro
Brazil is unquestionably the Coffee Nation of the world being responsible for about a third of all coffee produced for the last 150 years and also the largest coffee consumer. Beneath these layers of mechanised scale, there is a flourishing boutique industry focused on high end specialty quality that benefits greatly from the added resources, innovation and research that occurs in Brazil; Fazenda Cruzeiro is one such farm that is part of this movement.
Established in 1923 by Avelino and Maria Aguiar, today the farm is managed and owned by Avelino’s great-great grandson Ivan Junqueira Ribeiro who spent much of his childhood at the farm developing an appreciation for nature and the joys of producing delicious artisan coffee. Taking over the farm in 2007 he said “I hope that in the future the girls could have the same passion that I have for coffee and continue the family history.”
